GLIMPSES OF LYCEUM 52.


Lyceum 52 opened its doors for gifted children in 1990. The aim of purpose of new established educational institution was to satisfy the needs for better education. Up-to-date standard of teaching should provide pupils with knowledge required for entrance to any university. It is a primary importance for our lyceum to pay attention to such things as:

• Favorable study conditions
• Be respectful to the personality of a child
• Individual approach
• Profound study of the subjects taught in our lyceum

Lyceum 52 was the first school in Ryazan Oblast to open a new era- the era of innovatory schools. Our advanced experience, author’s and creative syllabuses, new methods of teaching became the starting point for other school. WE realize that a high standard of education can't be achieved without highly-qualified teachers. And we take care of them. We make every effort to carry out people's social order concerning education at a high level. Lyceum 52 aims at the revival of intellectual potential of Russians. That's why we set up and are carrying out a special programme. It pays special attention to talented pupils.

PRESENT DAY LYCEUM.
A CLASSICAL EDUCATION PRESERVING DEEP ROOTED RUSSIAN TRADITION.
Lyceum is based on two main principles: the development of a person, spiritual and emotional unity, cooperation of children and grown-ups. We worked out some more principles, rules and ideas. We hope they will help us lead our pupils from a small child who wants to create his or her 'EGO” to a student with creative thinking. The motto of our school-leaver is 'competence, culture, honesty'. All the teachers who come to our lyceum to work are supposed to write an essay and describe their vision of a new school. All newcomers take different examinations to win the right to be accepted to our lyceum. There are four stages in our educational system.

• Zero stage - pupils from six to seven years of age. (We call it a preparatory school)
• The first stage - pupils of forms 1-3
• The second stage - pupils of forms 5-8
• The third stage - pupils of forms 9-11. At this stage we have three brioches.
  The first is for those who like physics and mathematics.
  The second is for the students who are interested in chemistry and biology.
  The third is for lovers of history, literature and foreign languages.
  The number of pupils in our lyceum is about 600.

Our school is famous for its festivals, different shows such as 'Vivat,Lyceum!', 'Music fantasy’, ‘At Terpsicbora ball',Lyceum newcomers' day', 'The State of Lyceum and historic design" and many others. Everybody is busy. The teachers and pupils write scenarios, some try to organize rehearsals, parents make costumes.... Everybody is on the move... We write, make video films, dance, sing ... So you can see that we are really together. This team-work creates the atmosphere of confidence and respect. Everybody has his own special task, including our director (head-master), directors-of -study and even our school attendants.' School community life is rich in different fan and voluntary clubs. We teach our pupils to play the guitar, the piano, the violin, the accordion, the balalaika... We have our Lyceum Theatre.(Pupils and teachers act in different plays.) We also teach to draw and dance. Our pupils and teachers are fond of sports. They go In for basketball, volleyball, football, swimming It's a good tradition in our lyceum to visit Russian towns and learn their history, to go on excursions, to visit theatres and concert halls. (And not only in Ryazan but also in Moscow and St.Petersburg).
We hope that some day we'll see fruit of our manу years’ work. We believe that the spark of our team-work will kindle a flame. And the flame will make everybody in Russia warm and kind. And we need it so much? When we look at our school-leavers at our farewell parties we see Russia's future. And we are sure that the future will be bright!

The world of knowledge
And of hearts!
The hearts that beat as only one.
And we adore the Heart of Kindness, Happiness and Love!
The Heart which glorifies a Men!
